The Aurora Medical Center in Mount Pleasant provided a major addition to the area, featuring a level 3 trauma emergency department, a 60-bed inpatient hospital, two clinics focused on primary care, a medical office building and a central utility plant to serve the campus. The medical office portion of the site houses a variety of outpatient services and approximately 24 specialty providers, sports medicine, rehabilitation services and a small conference center. The facilities offer a variety of services to meet area residents’ and employers’ growing need for high quality, affordable care.
For this project, the E Cube and CT Mechanical team provided a comprehensive commissioning process based on Advocate Aurora Healthcare’s Healthy Facilities Guidelines and the LEED Fundamental Cx Prerequisite and Enhanced Cx Credit. The project is pursuing LEED-HC version 4 Gold.
Major building systems commissioned include a central chilled water plant, central condenser water plant, central heating hot water plant, process steam system, heat exchangers, energy recovery air-handling units, modular MEP construction, DDC controls, surgery suite and isolation room space pressurization controls, pharmacy ventilation, high plume exhaust systems, high-efficiency domestic water heating, advanced daylight dimming, and building enclosure.
