The Kellogg School of Management provided a new home for Kellogg MBA program and the Department of Economics. The new building included classrooms, flexible learning environments, faculty and administrative offices, community gathering spaces, and food service. The selected site, northeast of the Kellogg Allen Center, home to the Executive Education programs, provides the new building with spectacular views of the campus, lake, and pond.
The project aimed to excel at energy efficiency and sustainable design principals by employing a number of features and practices during construction and post-occupancy. The goal was to achieve a LEED Platinum rating, which was awarded shortly after construction.
Major building systems included a ground source geothermal heating/cooling system, radiant heating/cooling floor slabs, radiant heating/cooling ceiling panels, energy recovery air-handling units, radiant sails, chilled beams, DDC controls, automatic solar shading, advanced daylight dimming and high-efficiency domestic water heating.
