The Lower Sproul Student Community Center projects included construction improvements to several buildings and site improvements on the Lower Sproul Plaza. The work involved demolition and replacement of Eshleman Hall, renovation and expansion of the Martin Luther King student union, renovation of Chavez and Anthony Halls, and site improvements to Lower Sproul Plaza.
The Lower Sproul projects accommodated student activities and services including offices, meeting rooms, assembly spaces, group practice and performance, food service and retail space. Construction was implemented on a congested site with revenue generating retail that had to remain in operation during construction. The project site was centered around Lower Sproul Plaza, located on the UC Berkeley campus north of Bancroft Way between the intersections of Telegraph Ave and Dana St.
E Cube provided fundamental and enhanced LEED commissioning services. The new Eshleman building achieved LEED Gold certification through submission to the US Green Building Council.
